ok this morning before i went to school, i saw the stupidest thing on the news
apparently the pope doesnt like harry potter. the pope has not read harry potter, he doesnt like it because it has "witchcraft" in it. the harry potter books are great books, they are innocent, and the teach things, like good vs. evil= good wins! and friendship, and courage, and standing up for what you believe in, and facing ridicule, and prejudice. and you would think that these kinds of things the pope would agree with teaching right?
anyways its very distressing to me, because they are BOOKS, not only that THEY ARE FICTION. i mean does the pope seriously think that if we read the books that were all gonna turn around and be satanists? its just stupid. i mean what about saying 'open sesame' to a door? omg were all satanists. how about drawing a centaur? omg were all satanists. this is just idiotic. before you condem a book, READ IT. then you can make an informed opinion. and then on this website:

they have copies of letters sent from the pope to this person who wrote a book called harry potter good or evil? and it apparently talks about the "hidden agendas" in childeren's stories. come on people! all the little fairy tales that we tell kids usually have a moral, thats why we tell them these stories, that way they know whats right and wrong. i mean when cinderella came out and her fairy godmother went bibbity bobbity boo did the pope call disney a satanist for making the movie? no, because the story cinderella shows you that your dreams can come true (very corny, but its good for little kids to believe in their dreams) and in harry potter, it teaches you to do a number of things. the fact that the book is set in a magical school, where they all learn magic, and even if some little kid got a stick and said 'alohomora' nothing would happen.

that just really got underneath my skin, because it shows how people can be so narrow minded.
does anyone have the pope's email address? or the vaticans address? because im seriously going to write the pope and ask him why.
